Vikram, who has been recently selected as the youth envoy for United Nations Human Settlement Programme, kick started in Chennai on Friday an initiative called Pachchai Puratchi.

Announcing this to reporters, he said, “As per the UN charter, I would take all efforts to promote greenery and eco-conservation. Because, going green will only pave way for a better tomorrow.”

The Chiyaan added: “As a first step, we are planning to plant one lakh saplings under operation Pachchai Puratchi. We are planning to complete the task in one year. I request one and all to cooperate with me.”

Vikram was part of the Asian Contingent of the United Nations wherein only four envoys have been selected from around the world. He had attended the 23rd Governing Council meet in Nairobi, Kenya recently.

The actor is now eagerly awaiting the release of ‘Deiva Thirumagan’. Directed by A L Vijay, the movie features him in the lead role with Anushka and Amala Paul giving him company.
